Celebrating the Backbone of America: Small Businesses on the 4th of July

freedom to support small businesses in our community

As we gather to celebrate the 4th of July, a day marking our nation’s freedom and independence, it’s essential to recognize and honor the millions of small business owners who contribute to the vibrant fabric of our communities. These entrepreneurs, spread across the cities and towns of this great nation, embody the very spirit of freedom and opportunity that our country was built upon.

This morning, as I attended a 4th of July parade in St. George, Utah, I witnessed firsthand the pride and dedication of our local small businesses. Many of the floats showcased businesses that are integral to our community, such as Tagg-N-Go Car Wash, a regional chain that started right here in town, Roto-Rooter, a plumbing franchise, and House of Jump, an exciting trampoline park. These business owners took a chance, started their ventures, and now employ many people while supporting our community.

Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. The owners take risks, explore new ventures, and serve our neighborhoods with dedication and passion. Whether it’s a local coffee food truck in Utah, a sandwich shop in Idaho, or a second-hand clothing store in Kansas, these businesses enrich our lives and strengthen our towns. They provide essential services and unique products, and they offer a personal touch that larger corporations often cannot match.

The beauty of living in America is the freedom to choose our paths, build our dreams, and contribute to society in meaningful ways. Small business owners exemplify this freedom by pursuing their passions and creating spaces where community members can come together, share experiences, and support one another. Their success is our success, and their challenges are our challenges.

Supporting local businesses goes beyond seeking the best deal or the latest coupon. It’s about recognizing the value they bring to our daily lives and appreciating their role in sustaining the local economy. When we choose to shop locally, we invest in our neighbors and ensure that our communities remain vibrant and thriving.

This 4th of July, let’s take a moment to reflect on the incredible contributions of small business owners across the nation. Let’s support the local coffee food trucks, sandwich shops, and second-hand stores that add character and warmth to our towns. By choosing to support local businesses, we affirm our commitment to the values of freedom, independence, and community.

Together, we can build a stronger, more connected nation. Happy Independence Day, and here’s to the small business owners who make our country great. Support local, and let’s continue to grow and thrive together.
